Man charged with murder of Kim Richmond

A man has been charged with murder after the disappearance of missing Waikato woman Kim Richmond last year.

Ms Richmond's body was recovered from Lake Arapuni last week, after she disappeared at the end of June last year.

A 45-year-old Waikato man has now been charged with the murder of the mother-of-three.

He's due to appear in the Hamilton court on Tuesday.

Ms Richmond, 42, disappeared from her Arohena home on July 31 and the search has been ongoing ever since.

During the almost year-long search, police scoured Lake Arapuni multiple times.

On Wednesday, her silver Ford Ranger ute was discovered in the lake by a police dive squad. When it was recovered, Ms Richmond's body was found inside.

Police say her family have been informed of the latest development.

Her mother, Raywynne Richmond, declined to comment on the arrest when contacted by Newshub.
