Six more arrests over Invercargill death

Six more people have been arrested in Invercargill in relation to the death of a 19-year-old at Stadium Southland.

The assault occurred at about 11pm on Wednesday at the stadium and police have also been investigating a residential address on Brooke St.

Among the new arrests were three men and three females all aged between 23 and 16.

Police say the total of seven people arrested are known to the victim.

"This is a terrible incident that resulted in a young man tragically losing his life. It is a shock for the Southland community and in particular the families involved," Area Commander Inspector Joel Lamb says.

"I believe this was an isolated incident and that those individuals responsible are now in custody and will be put before the courts where they can be held accountable for their actions."

Police want to hear from anyone who was around Stadium Southland on Wednesday night to contact them on 03 211 0400.
