What is endometriosis?

Endometriosis is an incredibly painful condition, one which many women don't even know they've got.

Endometriosis affects 176 million women worldwide. That's 10 percent of all women during their reproductive years affected.

Its main symptoms are pelvic pain and infertility.

But there's some good news: studies into poppy seed oil, known commercially as Lipiodol, are proving effective in the treatment of infertility.

Professor Neil Johnson is president of the World Endometriosis Society and is recently back from a conference where the study into this revolutionary treatment was unveiled.

He spoke to Duncan Garner.
