The tax department will close some services for the day as it holds meetings with staff over a shake-up in the organisation.
In May, it was reported the Inland Revenue Department was looking to cut about 1500 jobs, and earlier that it was looking to reduce staff numbers by about 30 percent by 2021.
An IRD spokesman said it was stopping some services on Wednesday "so that all of its staff can hear about changes to the organisation".
He declined to comment on the nature of the meetings, saying nothing could be disclosed until staff had been talked to first. IRD offices will close from 1pm for the rest of the day and call centres will shut up shop from 12:45pm to 3:30pm.
Online services are still running as usual, the department said.
