Man to face trial over Riverhead attack

A 59-year-old man charged with an attack on a young woman in a Riverhead quarry near Auckland in February is set to face trial next year.

Colin Jack Mitchell has pleaded not guilty to three charges in relation to the attack, including abduction, wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and assault with intent to commit sexual violation.

Mitchell will face trial on February 12 after being arrested at a house in Onehunga on March 12.

He is set to next appear in court on pre-trial matters on November 2.
