A motorcyclist who was allegedly speeding has been killed after a short police chase in south Auckland on Sunday evening.
Police say they tried to pull the man over on Buckland Rd, in Mangere, at around 7:20pm.
He didn't stop and kept going, crashing shortly afterwards near the Royton Ave intersection, and died at the scene.
Police say no one else was injured and the serious crash unit will be investigating, with the Independent Police Conduct Authority also notified.
During the investigation, the road will be closed until around 2am on Monday.
Drivers are asked to avoid the area while diversions are in place around Buckland and Massey Rds, as well as Buckland Rd and Ashley Ave.
