The death of a nine-year-old girl who drowned in a bath at a property in south Auckland has been called a tragedy by her church.
The New Zealand Plymouth Brethren Christian Church says the community is deeply saddened by Tamsyn Whiteman's tragic death on Sunday morning.
"Tamsyn was a much-loved student at the Auckland Campus of Westmount School and was looking forward to attending school again on Monday," spokesperson Doug Watt said.
Staff and students at the school will be offered counselling.
Tamsyn was the youngest of four children.
Her death has been referred to the coroner.
