A section of an Auckland suburb was cordoned off and homes evacuated as armed police searched a house as part of the hunt for alleged gunman Rollie Heke.
Police say the operation in Mt Albert on Saturday has been completed and Heke wasn't found.
They say that, because of concerns for firearms, some nearby houses were evacuated and cordons were put in place.
Heke, 36, allegedly shot at police with a military-style semi-automatic weapon in the Waikato town of Morrinsville last Sunday.
He has been on the run since last September after breaching bail conditions.
On Wednesday, police widened their search for him to the entire country and warned associates against helping him to evade capture.
