Police have made multiple arrests following investigations into the supply and manufacture of so-called 'synthetic cannabis'.

An operation was carried out on Tuesday that targeted multiple addresses across Auckland where police found three kilograms of the drug from five different houses.

Three people have been arrested in relation to the supply of the drug. Another person was charged for possession.

Police also seized a number of other items during the search warrants including methamphetamine, cannabis, six firearms and a quantity of cash.

Area Commander Inspector Mark Benefield says police are working to ensure that the public is well informed about the dangers of taking the drug.

"We have seen first-hand the damage synthetic cannabis can do and the danger it poses to the community," he says.

"We are doing everything we can to get this drug off our streets and keep our communities safe."

As many as 10 people have died in recent weeks as a result of the drug.
