The body of a Tauranga fisherman missing since Tuesday was found just after midday on Wednesday.
Concerns were raised for the 60-year-old local when he went out on Tuesday morning and didn't return by noon, as expected.
A search and rescue operation was launched in the evening and his body was found by the Coastguard just after 12:20pm on Wednesday, police said.
Some items from his boat have also been found, but not the boat itself, which was homemade, three metres long and aluminium.
Police said they're continuing to investigate the case and have thanked the rescue helicopter groups which helped in the search.
