On Lotto's 30th birthday, find out where you'll have the best luck

Some very lucky stores stand well above the rest when it comes to dishing out the $10 billion in prizes since Lotto's first draw 30 years ago today.

Millions of winners have been lucky enough to share in the ever growing prize pool since that first draw on August 1, 1987, which had a $359,808 First Division prize.

The 30th year for the company has been a memorable one. Thirty Kiwis became millionaires overnight and a record $44 million was won by a single ticket.

"With over 800 millionaires since 1987, there are so many memorable winners," Lotto NZ's chief executive Wayne Pickup said.

The luckiest of all the 1450 Lotto retailers in New Zealand is the Unichem Stortford Lodge Pharmacy in the Hawke's Bay, having sold a massive 45 First Division tickets with winnings valued at over $28 million.
