A fifth day of searching for two men in Tongariro National Park has ended with the pair still missing.
Police say no further evidence has been found to indicate their whereabouts after searchers endured tough conditions on Thursday combing the area between Tree Trunk Road and the Pillars of Hercules.
Snr Sgt Tony Jeurissen says all information gathered so far is being evaluated at the Taupo police station search base.
He says the police national dive squad is expected to arrive on Friday to search streams and creeks.
The two men, possibly suffering hypothermia, have been missing since allegedly fleeing from police and into bush on Saturday, and hopes of finding them alive are diminishing.
Police have previously said the pair, in their 20s, are believed to be the same men who drove a stolen car that officers had tried to stop on State Highway 1.
