A man from the religious sect Gloriavale is facing sex charges for offences spanning over a three-year period.
The man, in his early 40s, has been charged with two counts of sexual violation and two more of indecent assault, Fairfax reports.
The offences all relate to one female victim between 2010 and 2013.
It's not the first time claims of serious misconduct have emerged from the gated community.
Earlier this year an 18-month Newsroom investigation of Gloriavale revealed serious concerns about suspected child abuse.
Documents obtained from Charities Services, which is part of Internal Affairs, revealed allegations of forced marriage, physical and sexual abuse and enforced control of personal matters such as passports and bank accounts.
