An elderly woman has been hit and killed in a fatal car crash in Kumeu, Auckland, on Thursday afternoon.

The accident occurred at about 2:50pm in a commercial carpark on State Highway 16.

The woman, who was a pedestrian, died at the scene. No one else was injured.

Due to the crash occurring in a car park, traffic in the area is not being affected, police say.

The Serious Crash Unit is investigating.
