Chinese mum's hilarious response to Newshub's dumpling video goes viral

A Twitter user has taken to social media to share her family's collective disbelief at a Newshub story about an Auckland chef who makes thousands of dumplings a day.

The original video, which went somewhat viral itself, tells the story of Eden Noodles Café and Ya Qin Zhang - the 'Dumpling Queen' - who makes 3000-4000 of the delicious Chinese delicacies daily.

In a series of screenshots of her family's online group chat, video producer Lucy Zee showed what she described as "a cultural insight into the dumpling children of Asian immigrant parents".

The chat starts with an image of the Newshub story and a question - "Can mum beat that high score?" - followed by a debate over whether Ms Zhang's dumplings have pleats.

The debate then turns mathematical, with one sibling casting doubt over the feasibility of making as many dumplings as she claims to every day.

They calculate she would have to make a dumpling every 10 seconds on a 10-hour shift - without stopping "to take a piss or shit".

The chat then culminated in her mother being told of the story and angrily making dumplings in response.

Ms Zee has been contacted about the likelihood of her mother laying down a challenge to Eden Noodles Café's Dumpling Queen.

Stay tuned.
