A group of out-of-control youths fired paintball guns at police when officers responded to an incident in Huntly.

Police responded at around 2:30am to reports that a group of about 30 people were fighting in a street.

Officers who attended had bottles thrown at them and were fired at with paintball guns, Senior Sergeant Phil Ruddell says.

No arrests were made.

However, Waikato police did arrest 14 young adults on Friday night, after being called to a disorderly party in the Hamilton suburb of Hillcrest.
