Footage taken by a New Zealand pilot of a plane landing in Queenstown amid thick cloud has gone viral, with over 2 million views on YouTube and thousands on Twitter.

"I invite people of the world to come visit this beautiful country and its people," the pilot said on the video

As the plane descends into Queenstown there are times where nothing except white cloud can be seen, showing the exceptional skill required by pilots.

The visibility returns once the plane dips below the clouds and the runway can be seen.

There is plenty of praise about the footage in the comments section.

"I have watched it dozens of times and each time it get goose bumps," one commenter said.

"Whenever I'm feeling a bit down I watch this video. Something about it just makes me happy," said another.

Another commenter said they use the footage in their work as a psychologist to show clients who are afraid of flying.

The video was captured in 2013, but has resurfaced online after it was shared again.
