Tauranga woman writes letter to her boobs

Tauranga woman Emily Searle has started a novel trend for women to process emotions, before undergoing a mastectomy.

After completing 16 rounds of chemotherapy and five weeks of radiation, Ms Searle, 37, was about to go through a double mastectomy.

Before the mastectomy, she decided to write a letter to her breasts and use the letter to help her deal with her emotions.

She told Three's The Project the letter gave her time to consider her feelings about the upcoming operation and the importance of her breasts.

"I can't hear what I'm thinking, until I read what I write," she said.

"Reading what I wrote helped me to understand that my relationship with my boobs was really important."
