Police say a person has died on the West Coast, after their vehicle crashed onto a rail line before being struck by a train.
It happened on Maimai Rd near State Highway 7, just before 3am on Saturday morning.
In a separate incident, a person has also been killed in Hamilton after being struck by a train overnight.
And a motorist has died further north at Okaihau, after their vehicle rolled on SH1 just after 7am.
