Livestream: Wellington's Sky Show fireworks display

  • 04/11/2017

This livestream has now ended.

The capital was lit up every colour of the rainbow on Saturday evening, with the annual Sky Show fireworks display.

The show, which was accompanied by a soundtrack streamed on The Breeze and More FM radio stations, went for about 10 minutes and was a visual delight.

The spectacle held particular significance this year, with Saturday night's show the last Wellington will hold in celebration of Guy Fawkes.

From 2018, the Wellington Council will hold its fireworks display on Matariki - the Maori New Year - in June or July, in an effort to make it a cornerstone event for the city.

Guy Fawkes, which the Wellington Sky Show celebrates this year, marks the anniversary of the discovery of a plot to blow up the Houses of Parliament in London 400 years ago.

It is the largest fireworks display in New Zealand.
