Boxing Day weather forecast: Rain across the country

  • 26/12/2017

While Christmas Day was sunny for most of the country, New Zealand can expect rain across the board on Boxing Day.

Metservice is forecasting showers in all the main centres and temperatures much lower than on Christmas Day.

Auckland and the upper North Island will be getting rain throughout the day and possible thunderstorms for the afternoon.

Towards the bottom of the North Island, the rain is expected to be briefly heavy but ease to showers in the early afternoon.

Canterbury will be breathing a sigh of relief today as rain dampens the possibility of scrub fires in the region. The showers are expected mostly around morning and evening.
