One firefighter has been injured while fighting a blaze that destroyed a commercial building in central Wellington.
The fire broke out at the two-storey building on Wigan St just before 2am.
The flames quickly spread from the top story engulfing the site. Nine fire service appliances were dousing the blaze at its height.
An emergency spokesperson told Newshub one firefighter is in hospital with moderate injuries. The injuries are not burn-related.
Crews managed to contain the fire at around 3am and investigators are at the scene.
No one was inside the building at the time.
