Third fatal crash in horror day on the road

A fourth person has died in a horror 24 hours on New Zealand roads.

The fatality occurred in a head-on collision involving a truck on State Highway 1, near Moneymore Road, south of Milton, on Friday afternoon.

The road is closed and motorists should expect delays in the area.

On Thursday night, a 51-year-old cyclist died in Te Atatu, Auckland, while a 15-year-old unlicensed driver and her 25-year-old passenger were also killed in a collision at Dairy Flat, Auckland, about 9:40pm.

The provisional road toll for 2017 at1pm Friday was 343, 41 more than the road toll for all of 2016.
