Emergency services have had a horror night on the job, following two fatal house fires.
Four fire crews were called to Rustic Ave in the Auckland suburb of Mt Roskill just before 6am on Saturday.
A spokesman told Newshub a person died after getting out of the house. The fire is not being treated as suspicious.
It follows another fire on Kiwi Rd in Wairoa, Hawke's Bay, around 10:30pm on Thursday, which claimed a life as well.
A Fire and Emergency spokeswoman says an investigator will return to the home this morning to establish the cause.
