Air NZ and Jetstar rated some of world's safest airlines to fly

Air New Zealand has once again taken out a top international airline award.

According to Airlineratings.com, in addition to being named overall best airline for 2018, Air New Zealand has been rated one of the safest to fly, making it into the top 20 safest airlines for 2018.  

Jetstar also rated well, making it into the site's 'top 10 low cost airlines' category. 

This is the fifth-consecutive year that Air New Zealand took the overall top spot, with the site acknowledging the airline's "continued record-breaking financial performance, in-flight innovations, environmental leadership, young fleet and motivation of its staff. These factors have stamped the airline as an industry trendsetter."

The full list for the top 20 safest airlines for 2018 is, in alphabetical order:

Air New Zealand, Alaska Airlines, All Nippon Airways, British Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Emirates, Etihad Airways, EVA Air, Finnair, Hawaiian Airlines, Japan Airlines, KLM, Lufthansa, Qantas, Royal Jordanian Airlines, Scandinavian Airline System, Singapore Airlines, Swiss, Virgin Atlantic, Virgin Australia.

On the other end of the safety spectrum are the world's five most unsafe airlines according to the site, in alphabetical order: Air Koryo, Bluewing Airlines, Buddha Air, Nepal Airlines, Tara Air, Trigana Air Service, Yeti Airlines.
