Department of Conservation (DoC) rangers are furious after campers cut down trees at a Marlborough campsite to improve their ocean views.

Community ranger Chris Wootton says the local team is upset after discovering the trees chopped down to the stumps at the Robin Hood Bay campsite, north of Blenheim.

The trees were planted to protect campers from the wind. Without them, future campers face a nasty breeze.

Rangers are investigating the incident, however the perpetrators appear to have evaded justice and have moved to another location.

Mr Wootton appeals for anyone with information to contact the south Marlborough DoC office.
