Gyrocopter crashes at Taieri Aerodrome

The pilot of a gyrocopter has walked away from a crash at Taieri Aerodrome near Mosgiel, south of Dunedin.

Shortly after 5:30pm on Sunday, police were notified that someone had seen a rotor come off a gyrocopter as it was coming in to land.

Police said the pilot was uninjured and a gust of wind had caught the gyrocopter as it was landing.

St John ambulance said it treated one patient with minor injuries who was transported to a medical facility.
