A man was assaulted and hit by a car in Wellington after trying to help a woman he saw in a domestic violence incident.
Police say the family harm incident took place between a man and woman outside a shopping area in Kelson, Lower Hutt on Monday morning.
A male bystander tried to intervene to help the woman, however the man involved assaulted him and later hit him with his car.
The victim was taken to Hutt Hospital and has been treated for his injuries.
Police are searching for the offender and are examining the scene of the incident as well as CCTV footage.
