Heartbreaking funeral for murdered Dunedin teen Amber-Rose Rush

The heartbroken friends and family of murdered Dunedin teen Amber-Rose Rush have farewelled her with emotional tributes.

Amber-Rose, 16, was found dead at a house on Clermiston Ave last weekend. A 30-year-old doctor has been charged with her murder.

Hundreds mourned their loved one at her funeral on Saturday, as they heard about Amber-Rose's life and dreams. Her sister, Shantelle, told the service of her pain.

"Amber was more than a sister to me; she was also my best friend," she said, according to NZME.

"No matter what happened I would always ask her for advice, even though she was five years younger. She was a great aunty. This is not goodbye; it's see you later... Love you, Amber."

A message by Amber-Rose's mother, Lisa, was also read out to the gathering.

"You are the definition of perfection. Your attitude acting tough, but you are marshmallow on the inside," it read, NZME reports.

"You are the glue that holds us. You are one in a million baby girl, my best friend, my love, my spark, my everything. Love, mum."
