Dunedin police stopped a stolen ambulance using road spikes late on Sunday night.

The emergency vehicle was stolen in South Dunedin just after 11pm, according to reports.

Police used GPS to track the ambulance to the Waihola area, where they used road spikes to stop the vehicle.

A local man in his 30s was arrested at the scene.

Nobody was injured in the incident.
