Ray White Queenstown has seen the funny side in an "open home" gone wrong after a car smashed through the front shop window.

The real estate agency isn't bitter about the situation and got a photo with the uninjured driver.

"A very interesting start to the day here at Ray White Queenstown," they posted on Facebook.

"Maybe an Open Home of a very different kind!"

They have even called on the public to create their best meme of the unfortunate situation.

"We have decided to turn a negative into a positive and have some fun along the way.

"Let us hear your best meme!"

Police say they were called to a report of a car through a shop window at 7.17am on Wednesday morning.

Police have charged the 43-year-old driver with careless use of a motor vehicle.

A tow truck was called and the scene has since been cleared.

A Queenstown Nomad Hotel worker said staff heard the car going through the window but no one saw the incident.
