The police dive squad is en route to the Western Bay of Plenty to help find a missing man at Omanawa Falls, south of Tauranga.
He disappeared around 3pm Sunday afternoon while swimming with two others.
The pair have been accounted for.
Search and rescue staff will return to help at daybreak, and access to the area is being limited.
