Police are praising a quick-thinking petrol station staff member who activated a fog cannon during a robbery on Sunday morning.
Around 5am three armed men broke into a Z Energy on Wairere Dr in Hamilton.
The staff member activated the fog cannon, filling the store with glycol - a food-grade oil that creates a thick fog when heated. She then secured herself in a safe room.
The criminals took two cash registers and left in a grey Mazda Atenza, registration KLF25.
"Thankfully, due to the shop attendant's quick actions, no one was hurt," police said in a statement.
They released CCTV images of the suspects. Call Hamilton police on (07) 858 6200 if you recognise the men.
