More than 600 heavy vehicles are having their certifications revoked due to serious safety concerns of dodgy drawbeams and drawbars.

Revocation notices are being sent to 359 truck owners and 257 trailer owners.

The notices are being sent because the vehicle owners had towbars installed by Nelson-based Peter Wastney Engineering Limited.

Last month, 800 vehicle certifications were revoked by the New Zealand Transport Agency due to safety issues.

The majority of affected vehicles are located in the Nelson, Marlborough, Tasman and West Coast areas.

Owners affected by this will have notices sent to them on Friday.
