A town in south Waikato is begging the Government to stop dozens of new pokie machines coming into the community.

The Feed Families Not Pokies group believes the addition of 30 slot machines in Tokoroa would create a mini-casino, which it says will fuel poverty.

Spokesperson Colin Bridle says enough is enough.

"I'm saying to the minister, 'Please don't approve this site. Please stop the pokie madness in the community.'"

Mr Bridle says more than 2000 people have signed a petition backing the call.
