Two people have been "seriously injured" in a crash on State Highway 1 between Cambridge and Hamilton, police confirmed on Monday.
The crash, which involved two cars and a truck, occurred in the northbound lane near the airport turn-off at about 5:30pm, police confirmed.
"The road is closed and diversions are in place," police said in a statement.
Waikato Police posted a warning on Facebook for drivers to avoid the area, advising motorists to "please avoid this route until more information becomes available."
Police said more updates on the crash were likely.
