Emergency services rush to South Port, Bluff after report of digger engulfed in fire aboard ship

Emergency services have rushed to Bluff's South Port following a report of a digger on fire aboard a ship.

A police spokesperson told Newshub emergency services were notified of the fire at 9:15pm on Tuesday - and while Fire and Emergency NZ (FENZ) is in attendance police are not required.

The spokesperson added everyone onboard the ship has been evacuated.

Fire and Emergency Southern shift manager Lynn Crosson told Stuff the fire was out by 10pm and the digger had been removed.
