Charter school's future in the balance
Education Minister Hekia Parata is set to make an announcement about the future of an embattled Northland charter school.
Te Pumanawa o te Wairua School - which changed its name last December from Te Kura Hourua ki Whangaruru - was issued with a performance notice earlier this year after problems with high staff turnover, low attendance and disengaged students were revealed in an Education Review Office report.
The charter school at Whangaruru was given a month to turn things around and it's unclear if that's happened.
Ms Parata will make the announcement in Auckland this afternoon.
The Whangaruru school was one of the first five charter schools to open at the beginning of last year.
