World leaders at the United Nations have met today to discuss the best strategy to combat terrorist group Islamic State.
The meeting is the first of its kind, with Russian President Vladimir Putin attending for the first time in decades.
Deakin University's global Islamic politics professor Greg Barton was in that meeting.
Professor Barton spoke to Paul Henry this morning.
