Labour calls for inquiry after EQC resignation
Labour is calling for an inquiry following reports another senior Earthquake Commission staff member has resigned.
Fairfax reports EQC's customer and claims manager Gail Kettle has resigned, a month after her daughter Nikki quit as an assessor.
Gail Kettle's departure follows the resignations of former customer services manager Bruce Emson and former home repair programme manager Reid Stiven, the report says.
Labour's Canterbury spokeswoman Megan Woods says the latest resignation will create "even more uncertainty for Cantabrians worried about the standards at EQC".
She's calling on Earthquake Recovery Minister Gerry Brownlee to take action that will restore public confidence that claims are being handled well "and this should include an independent inquiry".
