Watch: What Kiwis want from the Budget
With the Government about to release the Budget, Newshub asked New Zealanders what they wanted to see.
Not surprisingly, the majority wanted higher levels of spending on Auckland transport and greater opportunities for house buyers.
As one person said, "solve the public transport, you'll solve the housing."
Many were also concerned with the lack of social spending. Students wanted to see more education funding, while parents were concerned about welfare.
Outside Auckland, farmers looked for investment in R&D, and lower interest rates. Many took a self-sufficient attitude, with one summing it up: "I think we've got to learn to do it on our own."
