Cop who left gun in loo may be off PM duties

It seems the Prime Minister's bodyguard who left his gun in Parliament's toilets is no longer on the job, with John Key referring all queries about him to the police.

Asked today if the officer was still on his security detail, Mr Key said "it's an operational matter".

The Prime Minister said there was an ongoing internal investigation by police, but he had not been questioned as part of it.

The officer left his Glock pistol in one of Parliament's toilets in June.

Police have not responded to requests for comment.
