National's poll drop is a reflection of the "winter of housing discontent", says Newshub political editor Patrick Gower.
Gower told Paul Henry on Tuesday the National Government has been getting it wrong "day after day after day" on housing.
"It can't handle the jandal when it comes to housing."
National has fallen to 45.1 percent in the latest Newshub-Reid Research poll, a drop of 1.9 percent. The Labour-Green alliance has risen to 44.2 percent.
Gower said John Key's Government has continually failed to address housing, and looks at times as if it doesn't care.
