Government's $1b infrastructure fund open for submissions
The Government's $1 billion housing infrastructure fund is open for submissions.
It's a key part of the plan to deal with the housing shortage and councils can now submit their indicative development proposals.
Building and Housing Minister Nick Smith says they'll have to include information on the type of development they're seeking funds for, its location and an estimate of how many houses it will help provide.
The fund will be used to build roads and water infrastructure in new development areas.
To be eligible, councils must represent high-growth urban areas.
The fund can only be used for the capital cost of projects, not for maintenance and replacing existing infrastructure.
The fund was announced in July.
