A Labour-led Government would review the work visa system because at present there's a "huge mismatch" between the number of workers being allowed into the country and the number of unemployed Kiwis, party leader Andrew Little says.

Labour has previously released figures showing there are more than 15,000 New Zealand labourers out of work while 6500 visas were issued during the year to July to people doing the same work.

Employers have complained that locals often aren't prepared to do the work, or do it poorly.

Mr Little said on Tuesday he doesn't buy that and it's up to the Government to make sure the system is working in favour of Kiwis.
