The gang leader who vouched to kick all P dealers out of Ngaruawahia has been arrested.

It is understood leader of the Tribal Huk gang Jamie Pink has been arrested after police took his car earlier this week.

"Following the forensic examination of a vehicle in relation to recent activities in Ngaruawahia a 45-year-old man has been arrested on charges of unlawful possession of firearms," a police spokesperson says.

Earlier this month, Mr Pink gave meth dealers a 24-hour-deadline to leave the Waikato town before he said he would take the law into his own hands.

"No more P in Nga. Come on bros, be louder over there or do you like it? Say it bros! Louder!" Mr Pink told the meeting.

On Monday he drove his bullet riddled car into the Waikato Times' carpark claiming he lost an eye in the gunfire.

Mr Pink, wearing an eye patch, told the paper the gang's effort to drive meth dealers out of town was complete.

Police says no complaint had been laid over the alleged shooting of the vehicle.

Police say the arrested man will appear in Hamilton District Court on Wednesday.
