ACT leader David Seymour is wondering where there's much difference between National and Labour.
He's reacting to a Government statement last week that said income redistribution had increased since National came to power - the top 10 percent of households now pay 37.2 percent of total income tax compared with 35.5 percent previously.
"National's colonisation of Labour territory is complete - we thought Helen Clark knew how to straddle the centre of politics but John Key has taken the art to a whole new leech-like level," Mr Seymour said in his weekly newsletter.
"What is even the point of electing a National Government - it's not obvious that a moderate Labour Government would be worse."
Mr Seymour is a Government ally.
