The Government will deliver its Budget on May 25, Finance Minister Steven Joyce has announced.
Mr Joyce has committed to reducing the tax burden on low and middle income earners "when we have the room to do so" and says the Budget will focus on providing opportunities for all Kiwis to get ahead.
"The 2017 budget will build on the strengthening performance of the New Zealand economy over the last several years," he said on Wednesday.
"It will focus on creating the conditions for further growth and greater prosperity for all New Zealanders."
He said there would be a relentless focus on reducing debt, and the Government remains committed to reducing net debt to 20 percent of GDP by 2020/21.
It will be Mr Joyce's first Budget as Finance Minister having taken over from Bill English last year.
