Wellington parking wardens on strike
Wellingtonians - it's time to park in that perfect but pricey spot.
Wellington's parking wardens are picketing, not ticketing.
A stoush over a collective agreement with the Wellington City Council means many of the capital's parking spaces won't be policed for 90 minutes on Friday afternoon as the wardens go on strike.
"The parking officers have been trying for over two years to get their collective agreement settled but the council refuses to include wage rates in the agreement," said the E tu union's John Ryall.
It was serious breach of good faith, he said.
The wardens will hold a picket on Courtenay Place from 3:30pm to 5pm.
