Meghan Markle's father changes mind, wants to go to royal wedding after all

Thomas Markle Sr, the father of Meghan Markle, has changed his mind and now wants to walk his daughter down the aisle at the royal wedding.

Mr Markle told TMZ he changed his mind after his daughter contacted him to say she loved him and was concerned about his health.

She also said she did not harbour any ill feelings about the paparazzi photos it was revealed he staged on Monday.

"I hate the idea of missing one of the greatest moments in history and walking my daughter down the aisle," Mr Markle told TMZ.

Mr Markle said he would not be attending the wedding after suffering a heart attack six days ago - but said his decision also came after a deal was made public between him and a photo agency who took staged photos of him getting ready for the wedding.

He made the decision to be photographed after months of stalking by the media, according to TMZ. In the months leading up to the wedding, photos were published of Markle looking dishevelled and buying beers - which he says were actually for his employees.

That narrative appeared to follow the 'rags to riches' story surrounding Meghan's rise to royalty - despite her coming from a financially stable American family.

He says he was not offered anywhere near $100,000 for the photos as it was claimed in the media.

According to TMZ he is still receiving treatment for the heart attack, but is hopeful he will be able to fly to the UK for the wedding.

He's still waiting to get permission from his doctors and says they have not yet told him if he can go.

Meghan will be married to Prince Harry on May 19.
